The Australian's Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton says the "Let's Go Brandon" phenomenon demonstrates the decline in Joe Biden's approval ratings.

The slogan started as a chant from a NASCAR crowd saying "Let's go Brandon" for the winning driver, but the chants sounded like an anti-Biden slur, which then started a trend.

Mr Creighton said it is "an extraordinary phenomenon" and "is a very unflattering thing to say about Joe Biden".

"It certainly is so popular, and it spread greatly," he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

Mr Creighton said it reflects and "almost correlates with" the fall in President Biden's approval ratings ever since the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

"His approval's fallen from ... more than 50 to down to 42 per cent." 'Let's Go Brandon' a reflection of decline in Biden's approval ratings
